"The authentic self has the experience of being truly present and alive. Feeling real is more than existing; it is finding a way to exist as oneself... and to have a self into which to retreat for relaxation."
– Donald Winnicott
In psychotherapy, I prioritize creating a space where clients can embrace the breadth of human emotions with compassion and respect. I view clients as the experts of their own lives and strive to foster a non-judgmental atmosphere that encourages genuine expression and creativity. I value working collaboratively with my clients to make therapy accessible.
My focus lies in supporting individuals and couples who are grappling with PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, neurodivergence, parenting challenges, and relationship issues. As a family systems therapist, I explore how external systems (such as culture and family of origin) impact us, alongside our internal attachment patterns and meaning making processes. I work from a psychodynamic perspective and use eclectic tools from many therapy modalities, such as Motivational Interviewing, DBT, IFS and CBT. This means that I focus on underlying conflicts and ambivalence that generate anxiety and use interventions that are solution oriented and focused on symptom reduction.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned a Bachelor of Arts from Evergreen State College in 2008 and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martin’s University in 2018. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a treatment aimed at integrating and alleviating distress from traumatic experiences
